MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
Suzanna Faust (Druyor)
I have had a very diverse educational journey. I was home-schooled from kindergarten to about 8th grade. For high school, I attended and graduated from a online public high school Arizona Virtual Academy (AZVA K12). During my senior year of high school, I completed an internship at Desert Oasis Elementary school. During the end of my senior year and the following year, I was the Math Challenge Coach and a STEM Challenge Coach at Desert Oasis Elementary School teaching math to 3rd to 8th grade students. For college, I attended and graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics with an Emphasis in Secondary Education. I also graduated as a member of the GCU Honors College. While attending GCU, I completed an internship and my student teaching at Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center at the Estrella Mountain campus. I am a certified secondary education mathematics teacher as well as endorsed for Structured English Immersion (SEI) from Pre-k to 12th grade.
MY MATHEMATICAL JOURNEY
I have learned kindergarten math of counting and shapes to high school math like trigonometry to college math classes such as applied linear algebra and higher geometry. I have loved math since I was little! Although math has always been my favorite subject, I understand that certain concepts and mathematical skills can be more difficult to learn and take more time and effort than others. I have had great math teachers who are easy to understand and some other math teachers who are more of the style of "dive in and figure it out on your own". I have had highs and lows in my mathematical journey. I understand that every student does not learn and look at math the same way or at the same pace. I love helping students on their personal math journeys and helping them achieve success!!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME AND MY FAMILY
My husband and I both come from large families, and we recently started one of our own! I enjoy being a mom and look forward to teaching my newest little student as he grows. I have already started sharing my love of math with him as you can see by his math onesie!! He has a set of animal flashcards too. Thank you to all my clients who worked with me as I have been on this journey with this little man.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Personalized. Friendly. Quality Education.
As a teacher, I strive to have realistic but high expectations and goals for my students through my instruction and individual support. I love to coordinate with parents concerning expectations for students. I believe each student has value and is unique! I approach each new student with an open mind to learn what will help them to be successful and more confident in their math abilities! I know each student has their own specific challenges and motivators. Math skills build from one school year to the next. Therefore, I try to move at the pace that each individual student can go to REALLY learn the skill or concept! I believe that ALL students are capable of success!
